Project Overview

When Pittsburgh International Airport began constructing its new terminal from the ground up, Visiontron® was selected to provide a complete queueing and crowd control solution tailored to the needs of a next-generation airport environment. Designed to balance security, accessibility, and passenger comfort, the system integrates seamlessly with the facility’s modern architecture and operational goals.

A Fully Integrated Crowd Control Solution for Airports

From check-in to security screening, Visiontron supplied a comprehensive mix of solutions built to perform in high-traffic public spaces.

• RETRACTA-BELT® Stanchions for Efficient Queueing
  The installation features our 300 Series RETRACTA-BELT® Dual-Line ADA-compliant stanchions with magnetic bases, ensuring both stability and flexibility. These ADA-friendly posts create continuous visual and physical guidance for travelers while the magnetic bases allow fast, tool-free repositioning for maintenance or layout changes.

  
  The custom-branded belts reinforce the airport’s visual identity and provide a polished, consistent appearance throughout terminal areas.

• Q-PANEL® HD Systems for Structure and Control
  For queuing, security, and controlled-access zones, Visiontron designed and installed Q-PANEL® HD Post and Panel systems. These heavy-duty panels add structure and visual clarity to each space, creating defined passenger lanes and controlled pathways. Panels were finished to complement the terminal’s architecture, delivering both durability and design cohesion.

• ADA Gates and Barriers
  The project also included ADA Gates and Barriers to ensure accessible passageways when needed — and secure restriction when required.
  
  

• Overhead Signage for Distance Viewing
  We also provided our queue-ready  Walk-Under Signage, designed for visibility from afar—helping travelers navigate key checkpoints with ease and reducing congestion during peak travel periods.
  
  

• Custom Security Dog Screening Areas
  Visiontron also engineered specialized Post and Panel configurations for canine screening zones. These lower-to-the-ground panels reduce scent transfer and feature frosted lower panels to limit visual distractions for working dogs while maintaining upper visibility for handlers and security personnel. The result is a safer, more focused environment that supports TSA and K9 operations.
