Visiontron adds to their growing list of green and energy efficient plant improvements by installing a 220 panel photovoltaic solar panel system. The system is one of the largest in the area and is expected to provide Visiontron over half of their annual power demand.
In an effort to be the greenest American crowd control stanchion manufacturer, Visiontron proudly announces the installation of a 50 kW solar panel system. The system is estimated to supply Visiontron with over half of its annual power with clean, renewable energy and is one of the largest installs in the area. This system adds another item to their list of green improvements completed to their 40,000 square foot manufacturing facility over the past several years.
The photovoltaic solar panel system has a price tag of $250,000 and was largely funded by state and federal rebates and incentives. This 50 kW system was awarded to Majestic Son and Son’s, another Long Island family run business who’s been installing solar systems for over 30 years. Visiontron now uses the sun to charge their electric forklifts.
Visiontron’s crowd control stanchion output has seen double digit growth every year for the past 6 years, except in 2009. Charles Hansen, Director of Manufacturing at Visiontron states “in the process of expanding to meet these demands, we’ve kept both production and energy efficiencies in mind.” Visiontron has seen double digit savings in their yearly energy costs since they first started making energy efficient improvements in 2006.
This is the latest effort for Visiontron as they have already updated their entire facility to energy efficient lighting, overhauled an inefficient air system, reduced BTUs by 28% updating their HVAC units and installed thermally insulated windows to dramatically decrease their energy consumption in the last few years. Along with their emphasis on LEAN concepts, their recent “green” crowd control post, recycling and other green practices, Visiontron is dedicated to minimizing their impact on the environment.
